How to use Post Slide Deck

Post Slide Deck

Collect posts from X, add text and image slides, arrange a deck and record a clean presentation.

Free to read. You can explore the guide before buying the app.

On this page

Post Slide Deck turns selected posts from X into a local slideshow. You can add your own titles and images, then record the presentation with your usual screen recorder.

Install the app and extension

After buying, connect your GitHub account in Polar and accept the invitation. Download the ZIP from the customer releases. It contains the Mac app and a Chrome extension folder.

Move the app to Applications. It needs macOS 14 or later. Keep the extension folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents, because Chrome loads its files from there.

  1. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  2. Turn on Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and select the extension folder.
  4. Reload any X tabs that were already open.

Keep the Mac app running while collecting posts.

Build a short deck

For a video about a project launch, start with an introduction, two posts and a closing slide.

Press ⌘N to create a slideshow. Double-click its name to rename it Project launch. Select that slideshow before sending posts from Chrome: the extension adds posts to whichever slideshow is selected in the app.

Press ⌘T to insert a text slide. Type a title and optional smaller text in the preview. Then browse X and click the slide icon under each post you want. A message on the page confirms which slideshow received it.

To add a screenshot, drag an image onto the slide list. Each dropped image becomes a slide. You can also press ⇧⌘I to choose a file. The app keeps its own copy, so moving the original later does not break the slide.

Drag slides to reorder them. Drop a slide on another slideshow in the sidebar to move it. Select a slide and press Delete to remove it. Right-click a post slide to open its original post.

Choose a theme with the swatches near Play. Each slideshow remembers its own theme.

Present and record

Press ⌘Return or click Play. The main window becomes the clean presentation. A separate small window previews the next slide.

Record the main window with a screen recorder. Put the next-slide preview outside the captured window, or on another display. Post Slide Deck presents slides; your screen recorder produces the video file.

Long posts split into readable pages. Moving or removing one of those pages acts on the whole post. Images appear on the last page of a split post.

Build decks with an agent

Choose Post Slide Deck → Install Command Line Tool…, then Install Agent Skill…. The postdeck command talks to the app and its changes appear in the window.

This creates a deck with a text introduction:

postdeck create "Project launch" --theme midnight
postdeck add-text "Project launch" "Project launch" --subtitle "What changed and why"
postdeck show "Project launch"
postdeck open "Project launch"

Use a different name if you already created the example deck by hand. postdeck help add-post documents the JSON format for posts. postdeck capabilities lists the supported tasks.

Data, updates and troubleshooting

The library and downloaded images stay in ~/Library/Application Support/Postdeck. Back up that folder to keep your decks.

If a post does not arrive, check that the app is open, that the correct deck is selected and that you reloaded X after installing the extension. X can change its page structure, so check customer releases if capture stops working.

Install app updates manually from Releases. When an update changes the extension, replace its files in the same permanent folder and click its reload button in chrome://extensions.
