Install the extension
Slide Lookout needs Chrome 116 or later and a Notion page you can present in the browser. Notion’s Presentation Mode requires a Plus, Business or Enterprise plan. Slide Lookout does not run inside the Notion desktop app.
After purchasing, connect GitHub in Polar and accept the invitation. Download the extension ZIP from the private Slide Lookout releases and unzip it.
- Move the extracted folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents.
- Open
chrome://extensionsand enable Developer mode. - Click Load unpacked and choose the extracted extension folder.
- Open the puzzle menu and pin Slide Lookout to the toolbar.
Chrome runs the extension from that folder. Keep it in place after installation.
Set up a short presentation
Open a Notion page containing the slides you want to present. For a first rehearsal, use a small page with a title, an introduction and a final slide, separated using Notion’s presentation structure.
Before entering presentation mode, click the Slide Lookout toolbar button. The shortcut is Option-Shift-P on Mac, or Alt-Shift-P on Windows and Linux.
A floating presenter panel opens. Put it on the display you will watch, then click the Notion page and start Notion’s presentation mode. The panel previews the next slide and shows your position, such as Slide 2 of 3. On the last slide, it tells you the presentation is over.
Change slides with your usual arrow keys, Space or clicker. If the panel has focus, navigation keys still reach the Notion presentation. Press the extension shortcut again, or use the panel’s close button, to close it.
Keep the panel private
For a video call, share the Notion tab or the window containing the slides, and check the call’s sharing preview. The presenter panel is a separate window. Sharing the whole display can include that panel.
For a projector, use an extended desktop: keep the panel on the laptop and place the slides on the projector. Mirroring the displays shows the same content to you and the audience, including the panel.
Rehearse this arrangement before the real presentation. In particular, confirm the selected sharing source after switching between windows.
Open the panel after presenting starts
If you forgot to open the panel first, move the mouse while presenting. An Open presenter view button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to open the panel.
Opening a floating window can take Chrome out of fullscreen. Click the slides and press F to return. The panel also has Start presenting, but after using it you may still need to click the slides and press F.
Opening the panel before starting the presentation avoids this extra fullscreen step.
Know what the preview shows
Slide Lookout previews the next slide using the content and styles already on the Notion page. It follows light and dark appearance and includes ordinary images and callouts.
Embeds appear as gray boxes rather than loading another video or interactive document inside the preview. The panel belongs to its Notion tab and closes when you switch to another tab, window or app. Reopen it when you return to the presentation.
Fix a shortcut or missing panel
Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to inspect or change the shortcut. Chrome can leave the suggested shortcut unassigned when another extension already uses it. Try the toolbar button to distinguish a shortcut conflict from a page problem.
If the extension is enabled but nothing appears, confirm you are using Notion in Chrome and that the page supports presentation mode. Reload the Notion page after installing or updating the extension.
Slide Lookout depends on Notion’s page markup. A Notion change can affect the preview even when the extension has not changed. Check the private repository for an update if the panel stops following slides.
Update it
Download a newer release and copy its files into the same permanent extension folder. Click the reload arrow on its card in chrome://extensions, then reload the Notion page. Keeping the same installation preserves Chrome’s pinned button and shortcut configuration.
Chrome requests access on the supported Notion sites so the extension can read the presentation and add its presenter controls. Use the repository source to inspect those permissions before installation if needed.
